History [edit]
Between Feb 24, 2016 and March one, 2016, NBCUniversal appear that it would discontinue its existing weekend morning block NBC Kids, which was programmed by Sprout (now Universal Kids), in favor of The More You lot Know, a new, 3-hour block produced by Litton Entertainment, that would feature live-action educational programming aimed towards teenagers and their parents. The cake serves equally a brand extension of The More You Know—a serial of public service campaigns first launched by NBC in 1989.[7]
NBC Kids aired for the final time on September 25, 2016 on NBC and December 30, 2017 on Telemundo. It was the last weekend morning time block across the major U.S. commercial broadcast networks that featured programs for children. Such content has shifted towards cable networks and online video on demand services for cartoons and another youth-oriented live-activity programming due to those platform'due south less-onerous regulations for children'south content.[8]
Information technology was originally scheduled to debut on October i, 2016. However, it was pushed back one week due to NBC Sports' coverage of the 2016 Ryder Cup, and it was rescheduled to Oct 8, 2016.[ane] On January vi, 2018, the MiTelemundo block was relaunched to contain programs aired from The More You Know, however, it retained the MiTelemundo name, albeit with all of Litton's programming dubbed in Castilian.[9] [10]
